Science is a rapidly growing and important industry in the modern world. It has changed lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity.

At Burlington Infant School, we believe that science inspires children, encourages them to be inquisitive about the world, nurtures their innate curiosity and enables them to develop a range of skills that are transferrable across the whole curriculum.

Our science curriculum offers a broad range of experiences designed to provide pupils with a progression of scientific understanding, skills and knowledge. Our vision is to give children a curriculum which enables them to confidently explore and discover the world and environment around them so that they have a deeper understanding of the world we live in. Through exciting, practical experiences we aim to enable children to build on their natural curiosity and to shape it in to scientific enquiry.

Our aim is that these stimulating and challenging experiences will help children secure and extend their scientific knowledge and vocabulary. We build enthusiastic scientists who leave our school ready to take on their next scientific challenge in Y3 and beyond.
